- VINTAGE DESCRIPTION:
The 2010 growing season at Ex Nihilo started off cool and wet. Bud break happened a couple of weeks behind schedule, but favorable temperatures in both July and August helped the fruit catch up. Consistent sunshine in September and October gave the fruit a little extra “hang-time” and further complexity. The grapes for this wine were harvested November 11, 2010 on both our South Okanagan Vineyard and our Estate Vineyard in Lake Country.
- WINEMAKING:
True to traditional style Rieslings, the fruit was hand harvested and sorted followed by gentle pressing for maximum extraction. The free run juice then went through a cool, two week fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
- TASTING NOTES:
Juicy aromas of citrus and Okanagan apple blossoms on the nose are followed by complex flavours of ripe stone fruits and minerality on the palate. An elegant, well balanced wine with complex fruit, a refreshing crisp acidity and a long smooth finish. Enjoyable now and will cellar well through 2017.
