- VINTAGE DESCRIPTION:
The 2010 growing season at Ex Nihilo started off cool and wet. Bud break happened a couple of weeks behind schedule, but favorable temperatures in both July and August helped the fruit catch up. Consistent sunshine in September and October gave the fruit a little extra "hang-time" and further complexity. The grapes for this wine were harvested October 17, 2010 from our South Okanagan site and November 12, 2010 from our Estate Vineyards in Lake Country.
- WINEMAKING:
The grapes were hand harvested and brought into the winery for de-stemming, crushing, and gentle full extraction pressing. The juice was then cool fermented in stainless steel for two weeks. Two different yeasts were used in fermentation, with extended lees contact to give a larger mouth-feel.
- TASTING NOTES:
Characteristics of juicy pineapple, pink grapefruit and passion fruit all balanced with a refreshing, crisp acidity. The palate further reveals a finish of delicate ripe tropical fruits and spice.
Pairs well with fish and poultry.
