Ex Nihilo is a Latin term meaning ...
The first time we walked this steep untouched 10-acre property we saw the great potential to create a special place. It wasn’t just the landscape’s splendor that spoke to us - it was also the soil, the climate, and the southwestern facing slope that overlooked the beautiful Lake Okanagan. That was the day that we committed to the dream of creating wines that reveal the true beauty and essence of this unique hillside we now call Ex Nihilo.
In the summer of 2003 Decoa and Jeff Harder had nothing but a dream, a dream to one day own a vineyard and winery in the valley they love. Out of no where they came upon the site they were looking for. They partnered with long time friends Jay and Twila Paulson to establish Ex NihiloVineyards in 2004. They have since secured vineyards in Westbank and in Okanagan Falls as additional sources for Merlot, Riesling and Pinot Noir grapes.
Ex Nihilo Vineyards is currently under expansion, the new 7500 square foot Winery and Visitor’s Center will be finished in the New Year.
